FOLK Songs |
Originally Aired LIVE on KCLAFM.com on October 6th, 2002
Hello folks!
Today, I went to a wonderful event sponsored by the California Traditional Music Society out at Encino Park. The festival launched a worldwide concert, stretching from LA to Hong Kong via NY, London and Mumbai in tribute to the life of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal Reporter.
There were representations from several groups who foster folk music and help keep traditional music alive in well in today's fast-paced society.
In honor of this celebration, I am featuring folk artists (and songs that draw their inspiration from a somewhat more traditional/Americana/country origin) on today's episode of "Juliette's Open Mic Radio Show."
You will hear the following featured artists:
1 - Duende, "Leaving NYC"
2 - Randi McMatthew, "You're a Genius"
3 - Border Radio, "Farm Wife"
4 - Matthew Hart, "Silverbird"
5 - Robert Jude, "California"
6 - Peter Quentin, "I'll Be A Rover"
7 - Nancy & Phil, "Winter Winds"
As always, I chose these songs to form a unique little story with my own personal take on living the "simple life" vs. the fast-paced race of the big city. Lucky you . . . no traffic to fight, no cover charge to pay . . . just a great 30 minute show of great original tunes, delivered to you on your desktop! Let me know what you think . . . you can send me an email while you listen.
Thanks for tuning in! Juliette Riedl
