My name is Juliette Riedl - I am the producer, director and host behind
“Juliette’s Open Mic Radio Show” a webradio broadcast that aired live on KCLAFM.com each week for two years. Since its creation in 2001, I put together approximately 100 shows, featured more than 500 talented artists and still continue to amass a growing number of unique visitors to this site from all over the world.
I was inspired to create my show after frequenting various Open Mics around town
and hearing such amazing talent . . . I envisioned a place where independent musicians could reach more of their fans and followers without asking them to sit through hours of waiting for their number to be called – standard “luck of the draw” procedure at most Open Mics. The internet seemed like the perfect setting to promote new artists who were not getting the exposure their talent deserved.
I then began featuring up-and-coming singers/songwriters/musicians that I discovered in coffee houses, bars and showcases around town. From the American Radio Network studios on Sunset Boulevard, I broadcasted a 30-minute show featuring 5 to 7 artists with a brief introduction and song from each of their demo CDs. Every show was based on a particular theme, whether by lyric (love, loss, dreams, gratitude) or genre (folk, blues, country, pop).
Over time, I have fine-tuned the concept to showcase songs in a thoughtful, theme-focused format that highlights lyrics and sets the scene for each song by surrounding it by relevant, story-centered commentary.

Although my show is now on hiatus, I am currently exploring other opportunities that would allow me to continue creating original programming &/or would provide other means of exposure for talented independent artists. These options include:
· Shopping the show to local radio stations here in the LA area.
· Looking into the possibility of syndicating the show across the country.
· Suggesting various songs for independent films in which I am involved.
I am hopeful that, with the proper backing and exposure, my little show will continue to grow and prosper, and that all the artists I featured will also benefit from the exposure they receive here. Please stay tuned . . . there will be more to come!
